Hi there!
I am Danniell

I am Danniell, a fine art photographer based in South Carolina’s Lowcountry, where shifting light, coastal landscapes, and quiet moments shape the way I see and create. My work is rooted in atmosphere, texture, and emotion, exploring time, transformation, and the subtle details that are often overlooked.
Growing up surrounded by the ever-changing light of marshes and beaches taught me to slow down and observe. Photography became more than a way to capture what I saw, it became a way to hold onto what might otherwise pass unnoticed. Working primarily with natural light and environmental elements, I approach each image as a reflection rather than a record, creating space for feeling, memory, and connection.
Although my love for photography began early, it was during South Carolina’s 100-year flood that I truly understood its power. In the midst of loss and stillness, I captured an image that revealed something deeper, how photography can preserve memory, express emotion, and reveal beauty even in difficult moments. That experience continues to shape how I approach my work today.
As a mother of three, I understand how quickly time moves. One moment you are holding their hand, and the next they are growing into themselves. This awareness influences both my personal work and the way I photograph others, encouraging a slower, more intentional approach that allows each story to unfold naturally.
Because photography is deeply personal to me, I wanted my branding to reflect that connection. The magnolia flower represents my roots in the Lowcountry, its presence woven into the landscape and into my own experiences growing up. It also reflects family, as I often spent summers photographing alongside my uncle, who encouraged my curiosity and love for the camera. The dragonfly carries a more intimate meaning. It represents my grandparents. After my grandmother passed, a blue dragonfly landed on me as I left the hospital. Years later, when my grandfather passed, a blue and green dragonfly appeared again, circling in front of me as if they had reunited. Because of these moments, the dragonfly has become a symbol of remembrance, connection, and presence in my work, something I carry with me during every session.
Alongside my fine art practice, I work with families, couples, and mothers to create honest, atmospheric portraits. These sessions are approached with the same intention as my personal work, focusing on natural interaction, subtle emotion, and the quiet moments that often go unnoticed.
Together, these elements reflect the heart of my work: storytelling, connection to nature, and the preservation of meaningful moments. I can’t wait to create something meaningful with you, to capture your moments before they become memories.
"It's not the camera that makes the image, it's the heart and vision of the person behind it that turns a moment into art."
